In 1993 the Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs successfully nominated a series of Maryland indigenous American Indian landscapes across the state to Preservation Maryland's Most Endangered  List to bring attention to the need to protect these large landscapes and build partnerships.  This was part of a larger effort by MCIA to promote partnerships that enable conservation, preservation, education, respect for Indian people and environmentally sound tourism regarding these landscapes.  This paper explicates this project, its partnerships, and outcomes so far.
