There is rapidly growing interest in on-the-ground climate adaptation conservation, as both public agencies and nonprofit conservation organizations have begun to move beyond science and planning for adaptation to actually demonstrating and modeling actions in the field. Along with a few other investors, the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Climate Adaptation Fund has been a catalyst and financial supporter of these on-the-ground efforts. Participants in this session will hear practical guidance and examples of case studies for applied climate adaptation projects with landscape impacts. The presenter will also share lessons learned from a four-year portfolio of ecosystem-based climate adaptation efforts, discuss prioritization for conservation resources predicated on adaptation needs, and emerging issues for investors under the new paradigm of climate-driven conservation.
