Conservation organizations, federal and state agencies, and researchers have produced a variety of “landscape-scale” planning processes and tools over the past two decades. Many such efforts recognize the benefits derived from expert opinion and empirical data associated with specific conservation features and clearly defined objectives, vulnerability assessments, modeling, and spatially-explicit resource information. This discussion panel will include questions and discussion about the three basic phases of the landscape conservation design process, including: (1) the kick-off phase, focused on facilitating partner understanding, agreement, and support, (2) assessment, and (3) design. The discussion will be continued during the last session of the Landscape Conservation Design track, A World Café: Identifying Resources Needed for Successful Development and Implementation of Landscape Conservation Design.
