Biographical Sketch:
Robert T. Fahey is the Forest Ecologist at The Morton Arboretum. His lab conducts research on a wide variety of topics related to forest ecology and management with primary focus on urban forest ecology, forest stand dynamics, dendroecology, historical ecology, and silvicultural restoration of forests and ecosystem function. He received his Ph.D. in Forest Ecology and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, M.S. in Forest Science from Oregon State University, and B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University. He leads efforts focused on assessing urban forest composition, structure, and benefits for the Chicago Regional Trees Initiative, is co-chair of the Chicago Wilderness Oak Recovery Working Group, and a member of the CW Climate Change and Trees and Green Infrastructure Task Forces. He in on the faculty at the University of Michigan Biological Station and is an instructor in the Woodland Stewards Program at The Morton Arboretum. He serves as a mentor in the REU program at the University of Michigan Biological Station, the Center for Tree Science Undergraduate Research Fellowship program at The Morton Arboretum, and on graduate committees at Northwestern University, Northern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois-Chicago.
