Biographical Sketch:
Nancy Williamson is employed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as a Regional Watershed Coordinator in the IDNR Private Lands Division and is the “Green Cities” Campaign Manager for the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan. She co-chairs the Chicago Wilderness (CW) Sustainability Committee and the CW Green Infrastructure Task Force, and participated on the advisory board that produced the CW publications; “Sustainable Development Principles for Protecting Nature in the Chicago Wilderness Area,” and “Conservation Development in Practice.” Nancy was part of The Wetlands Initiative team to develop “Living with Wetlands,” a publication required by the Chicago Army Corps of Engineers to be distributed in developments that impact jurisdictional wetlands. Nancy is the Principal Lead for the Chicago Wilderness Sustainable Watershed Action Team (SWAT) and founding partner in the development of the SWAT initiative. SWAT is in ninth year of delivering technical assistance services to local governments in northeastern Illinois. SWAT was created in 2004 in response to an extensive municipal need assessment conducted by a Chicago Wilderness taskforce in conjunction with Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP).
