Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Fiona Schmiegelow is a University of Alberta professor based at Yukon College, where she directs the Northern Environmental and Conservation Science Program. She is also the Senior Science Advisor to the CBFA, and Chair of its Science Committee. Fiona’s research focusses on the ecology of boreal systems and their response to landscape changes. Her work on these questions is characterized by large-scale experimental field studies and complementary, collaborative modelling initiatives involving extensive datasets. Fiona’s interests lie at the interface of science and policy, and she actively engages in related processes to identify tractable solutions to pressing conservation challenges facing boreal systems and the wildlife and communities that depend on them.
