Biographical Sketch: Jeff Burgett is currently the Science Coordinator for the Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperative in Honolulu.  He has worked in Island ecosystems for most of his professional and educational career.  Jeff has worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 1995 as a biologist tasked with invasive species, avian diseases, wetland and riparian restoration, coral reef restoration, endangered species recovery, and climate change assessment and education.  He also served as the Recovery Team leader overseeing recovery efforts for the ‘Alala (Hawaiian crow).  Jeff has a B.A. from the University of Hawai’i, a M.Sc. from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Ph.D. from the University of Hawai’i, all in Zoology with an emphasis in Marine Ecology.  Prior to his doctoral studies he also worked as a biologist for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama.  This experience has helped him develop extensive knowledge of tropical island ecosystems and understanding of the implications of climate change and other threats to these systems.
