The Nature Conservancy

Biographical Sketch:
Charlotte Pienkos, External Affairs Manager, joined The Nature Conservancy in 2006. A specialist in emerging issues, Charlotte conducted the 2008 analysis that helped launch the California Chapter’s renewable energy program. In 2009 she helped develop strategies to restore anadromous fish stocks and habitat in northern California. Her current work focuses on reducing the impacts of development in natural landscapes, such as the Santa Ana Mountains, where connectivity for plants and animals has been disrupted by infrastructure. She was responsible for the development of an urban conservation program in Greater Los Angeles that would broaden public support for conservation while implementing the Chapter’s greenhouse gas reduction goals and restoring nature in the urban core. Charlotte’s background includes positions at a metropolitan planning organization and the unicameral, nonpartisan Nebraska Legislature. She holds undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Nebraska.
