Ryan Reker

InuTeq – Contractor to USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science Center

Biographical Sketch:
Ryan Rekker is a contract Geographer at the EROS Center, and most recently conducted scenario-based land-cover forecasting for the USGS LandCarbon project. Ryan's research interests focus on investigating drivers and consequences of land-cover change and forecasting future and historical land-cover to help address natural resource issues. Research topics of particular interest include the influence of climate change, biofuels, and natural vegetation succession on future land-cover, as well as assessing impacts of LULC change on wildlife populations. Prior to his work at EROS, Ryan led bird habitat planning and monitoring and evaluation efforts for the Rainwater Basin Joint Venture in Nebraska. Ryan earned his M.A. in Geography from Kansas State University in 2004, studying spatial shifts and changes in Conservation Reserve Program lands using remote sensing.
