Frank Shipley

Biographical Sketch:
Frank has a B.S. in wildlife biology from Colorado State University (1974) and M.S. (1976) and Ph.D. degrees (1980) in biology from Kansas State University, with emphasis in evolutionary ecology. Frank has taught at three universities; directed aquatic and coastal biology programs in Kansas and Texas; and authored some 50 publications on scientific and environmental topics. From 1989 to 1995 Frank established and directed the Galveston Bay National Estuary Program (a state/federal partnership), where he directed an ecosystem level research program and led the creation of a management plan to guide resource agencies. From 1995 to 2003 Frank served as Director, USGS Western Fisheries Research Center where he oversaw research at six laboratories, with headquarters in Seattle. Frank is currently Associate Northwest Regional Director for USGS, where his primary focus is connecting science with natural resource management at the ecosystem scale.
