Biographical Sketch: Karen is the Coordinator for the Western Alaska Landscape Conservation Cooperative.  She has lived and worked in Alaska for 30 years in wildlife biology and ecology positions focused on understanding system disturbance with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service. She has a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and a Master's degree in Environmental Management from Duke University.  She was part of the team to develop the restoration plan following the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, and worked as the Regional Refuge Fire Ecologist for the National Wildlife Refuge System in Alaska before turning her attention full time to climate change issues.
