Biographical Sketch: Erika is a conservation scientist working on climate change issues for the WCS North America Program. She has studied vegetation dynamics and their interaction with changing climate for several years, and also possesses applied professional experience in land conservation and management. More recently Erika has integrated her research themes and applied background toward developing approaches to address the climate change challenges facing natural resource managers. Using a planning framework developed by WCS and others to assess management actions in the face of climate change, she has been incorporating vulnerability assessment results and other climate change impact science
into adaptation planning efforts in numerous sites across North America. She recently lead the development of "Considering Multiple Futures", a guide on the use of scenario planning to address uncertainty in natural resource conservation, and an associated training course at the USFWS National Center for Conservation Training. Erika earned a M.S. from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (Biology with Quaternary Science focus) and a Ph.D. from the University of Maine (Forest Resources).
