Biographical Sketch: Dr. Theobald is a Senior Scientist at Conservation Science Partners, as well as an adjunct professor in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at Colorado State University. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. from the Department of Geography, University of Colorado, Boulder, and his M.A. from Department of Geography, University of California, Santa Barbara. Dave uses concepts from geography and landscape ecology and methods from spatial analysis to understand patterns of landscape change and their effects on wildlife habitat and biodiversity. He has engaged in a variety of collaborations, including a natural resource condition assessment, developing resource monitoring designs, analyzing trade-offs in the effects of proposed planning policies on the sustainability for a variety of western counties, directing an inventory of open space and protected lands, developing detailed, nationwide forecasts of development patterns that are consistent with climate change scenarios (called Integrated Climate and Land Use Scenarios), and identifying movement through natural landscapes at regional to continental scales.
