This presentation will describe the formulation of the Water Delivery Plan in preparation of the pulse flow established under Minute 319—a binational agreement between Mexico and the US that dedicates environmental flows to the Colorado River Delta. It will cover the hydrological monitoring undertaken before and during the pulse flow of underground and surface flows. It will touch on the hydrological behavior of the river during the pulse flow by discussing the trajectory the river flow took, the distance it reached and potential explanations for this behavior. The presentation will illustrate the challenges the hydrological monitoring team faced during the pulse flow and the lessons learned. Concluding remarks will outline the potential future steps that can be taken to continue advancing our understanding of the hydrological behavior of the Colorado River Delta.
