Biographical Sketch:
Preston Hardison is a policy analyst for the Tulalip Natural Resources Office of Treaty Rights. He has worked on access and benefit sharing and other indigenous issues at the Convention on Biological Diversity since 1996, acting as one of the negotiators of the Nagoya Protocol. He has been engaged in discussions on traditional knowledge at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) since 2001, and is currently negotiating a potential treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Folklore. He is working on a tribal cultural heritage code for the Tulalip Tribes. He has published several papers on traditional knowledge and research ethics. He also works on issues associated with traditional knowledge and climate change adaptation.
