Biographical Sketch:
Jonathan Doherty is Assistant Superintendent for the National Park Service Chesapeake Bay Office, which manages two extensive national historic trails and facilitates collaboration on large landscape conservation and public access throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Doherty has extensive experience facilitating a wide range of stakeholder and public meetings and working sessions. He was instrumental in facilitating interagency efforts of the Federal Leadership Committee to carry out President Obama’s 2009 Executive Order on Chesapeake Bay protection and restoration. Previously he served as Executive Director of the Columbia River Gorge Commission, managing conservation planning and implementation for the 300,000 acre Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Doherty also served as NPS chief of planning for national parks and national heritage areas in the mid-Atlantic states. He has a Master of Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Earlham College in biology.
