Biographical Sketch:
Alexa McKerrow is an ecologist and remote sensing analyst who has worked with the USGS's National Gap Analysis Program since the mid-1990s. In 2008 she began her USGS career and now works with the Core Science Analytics, Synthesis & Libraries, where she is involved in activities related to characterizing and mapping vegetation. As the Implementation Manager for the U.S. National Vegetation Classification she serves on both the Federal Geographic Data Committee's Vegetation Subcommittee and the Ecological Society of America's Panel on Vegetation Classification. Alexa maintains her connection to the National Gap Analysis Program as a member of the Biogeographic Characterization Branch of CSAS, as well as through representation in activities related to the LANDFIRE Program, the Multi-Resolution Landscape Characterization Consortium, as well as the National Wildland Fire Cohesive Strategy Southeast Regional Committee. At North Carolina State University, she serves as adjunct faculty with the Department of Biology where she gets the opportunity to work with students and other researches on integrating regional and national datasets in landscape and conservation analyses.
