Biographical Sketch:
Janet has more than 20 years experience as a professional environmentalist. She has been Executive Director of CPAWS Wildlands League since 2003. She has led CPAWS Wildlands League in the achievement of substantial legislative reforms. Janet is an expert negotiator, strategist and communicator with extensive policy reform experience. She also has a long history working with industries, from ISO 14001 standards, oil & gas engagement, mining companies to forestry giants, Janet believes business solutions that are first and foremost ecologically viable, have the social license to proceed and meet the bottom line are at the heart of our sustainable future. Her job is to find the sweet spot. Before CPAWS Wildlands League Janet was the Communications Director for the Pembina Institute. While at Pembina she led the development of the largest English language climate change web site, climatechangesolutions.com from research to design. Janet’s work experience has touched on many environmental issues, from pesticide use and climate change to waste reduction and pollution in the Great Lakes. Janet currently is the chair of the Canada-wide boreal program for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS), steering committee member to the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement (CBFA) and recently retired as board member for the Sustainability Network and the Toronto Environmental Alliance.
