Biographical Sketch:
Duane B. Pool is the Landscape Ecologist for the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory. Duane received his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Colorado State University, where he work on the spatial influences of risks to human and natural capital. Duane then returned to graduate school to pursue his Doctorate in Forestry, GIS/Remote Sensing/Statistics from Colorado State University (2004). Duane serves RMBO’s through participation in LCC and JV steering, science and ad hoc committees. Duane’s office is at Bismarck State College where he teaches GIS and Remotes Sensing. Duane’s work focuses on partnership development and cooperative conservation, integration of performance metrics and adaptive management, grassland bird conservation planning, landscape and habitat evaluations and change detection, statistical design, spatial analysis and modeling of habitat and climate, and communicating conservation needs and science to stakeholders and the public.
